Acura never finished the interior.

I owned a 2011 CSX prior to taking delivery of my ILX Tech. I really do like the intellegent design of the dash and controls. The finish is excellent and modern. The Nav. system is a big step forward in ease of use over the previous Alpine system in the CSX. Where this vehicle falls short is the below the "glove box line" It seems they ran out of money to properly finish off the glove box and door panels. Now, I am comparing to the CSX, but what's with the glove box and door locks in cheap black plastic,? My glove box latch has an injection molding flaw, as do the door lock switches. The power door switch trim is finished in a black rubber trim, why not in the great looking smoke/black color that accents the dash. The leather quality is not as good as in the CSX ,it seems synthetic. Why not more color choices as well, besides black and tan? That goes for the exterior colors as well. If you want to sell luxury, do it right !

" ... If you want to sell luxury, do it right ! ..."

I agree completely. And why not offer the colored glow option for backlighting of the dashboard controls? I had an RSX Type S that had the red glow on the dash, kind of like lighting on an airplane cockpit. Loved it. So the parts and tech ability has to already be in the Acura vaults. Even for a few extra bucks or as a dealer installed option kit I think this option would sell enough units to turn a profit for Acura. If done right, that is.

While I'm at it - how about installing some kind of scented candle like option into the air circulation system. The ductwork, fan and outlets are already there so no need to redesign the whole system. I want a small box under the hood where I can insert something like a scented bar of soap or fluid into the box, which is then passed through the car's air circulation system. Like adding fluid to the wind shield washer tank, etc. Have you been to a scented candle store lately? Every mall on the planet has at least one. Dozens of different scented candles are available. Would you like your interior to smell like cherry blossoms or green tea, etc? Make the first one free with delivery and then track the sales. The parts department could carry the refills or offer on the www site.

Come on Acura Design dept, show us some imagination.

I cannot agree more. The black plastic is harsh and unacceptable for a $32k vehicle. My 2006 TSX did not have nearly the amount of black plastic, although, there was some. Also, I do not understand why my ILX Tech does not have a power passenger seat. While mentioning seats, I would want more color choices: a nice red, or the saddle brown color found in the MDX from a few years ago. I will probably fix these issues on my car later, but as for now, it will stay stock. Red seat piping and door inserts could be interesting though.

You have to remeber that its a gateway car guys and that keeping many of those options and such for the more expensive cars is how they like to do it. I have no issues with mine, I had an 09 TSX and i like this just as much......
